Teeth Whitening

What is Teeth Whitening?

Teeth Whitening is a cosmetic treatment to whiten/brighten your teeth and remove staining. Teeth Whitening works with a combination of whitening gels and the use of an LED Light.

Am I a good candidate for the treatment?

  • Not recommended for anyone 16 years of age or younger.

  • Not recommended for anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • Not recommended for anyone who has visible cavities or gum tissue is receding.

  • Not recommended for anyone with extreme teeth sensitivity.

How long does the teeth whitening treatment last?

Teeth Whitening is not a permanent treatment. Different factors such as oral hygiene and habits will affect the longevity of this treatment. On average, you can expect results to last 6 to 8 months if you are a non-smoker and 4 to 6 months if you smoke.

Does Teeth Whitening hurt?

Some sensitivity may occur immediately after treatment and for the following day. We recommend you use a sensitive tooth paste 2 weeks prior to the appointment if they are concerned about sensitivity. Make sure to review aftercare instructions to help minimize any sensitivity.

  • Avoid all staining products for at least 24 hours up to 7 days. The longer you avoid anything dark, the better the results, the longer they will last.

  • Gel is still activated in the pores and will continue to lighten for the next 8 hours

  • Avoid cold drinks/food as it can trigger sensitivity since the pores do not close right away.

  • If sensitivity occurs, take an Advil or Tylenol as directed.

  • Avoid brushing for 45 minutes after treatment and avoid mouthwash (coloured) for 24 hours

  • No whitening toothpastes as they could be too abrasive for 24 hours

  • Practice good oral hygiene
