Laser Hair Removal

What is Laser Hair Removal?

Unlike traditional methods (waxing, shaving, bleaching or using depilatory creams), DiolazeXL laser hair removal impacts the root of the problem, rather than offering a temporary solution. Traditional methods will require treatment forever, while DiolazeXL only requires 6-10 sessions on average. Most patients notice an immediate reduction in hair growth and eventually smooth and hair-free skin.

What machine do we use?

Lash X Brow Studio is dedicated to using only the best - which is why we upgraded the Laser Technology we use to the InMode DiolazeXL. Health Canada views the Diolaze as the gold standard for hair removal.

Faster Treatments + Less Treatments + More Hair Loss = Less Money Spent overall for our clients.

How does DiolazeXL work?

The diode laser beam passes through the skin towards hair follicles. The penetrating energy then heats up the root of the hair, which in turn prevents from future growth. The laser emits a gentle beam of light energy which is transformed to heat and absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair, which ultimately destroys the hair follicle, while leaving the skin unharmed.

Does Laser Hair Removal Hurt?

DiolazeXL features one of the largest built-in cooling surfaces available in laser hair removal technology, helping keep treatments comfortable for most clients.

On a pain scale of 1–10, our goal is for you to feel about a 3 during treatment. If the sensation feels stronger than that, simply let us know and we will lower the machine settings. If you feel little to nothing, we may increase the setting to ensure the treatment remains effective.

Clients typically feel a quick zap on the hair follicle. The sensation is very brief—once you feel it, it’s already gone.

The built-in cooling tip helps protect the skin and makes the treatment far more comfortable than many traditional laser hair removal devices.

How Many Sessions Are Required?

Most clients require 6–10 treatments to achieve optimal hair reduction, although some individuals may require additional sessions depending on their hair type, skin tone, and the treatment area.

Clients should begin to notice a reduction in hair after their very first session, typically seeing anywhere from 10–30% reduction after each treatment as the hair follicles are progressively weakened.

Laser treatments are typically scheduled every 4–8 weeks. This allows the hair to cycle into the active growth phase so it can be effectively treated. Waiting longer than the recommended timeframe between sessions may reduce the effectiveness of your results.

What Can I Expect During a Treatment?

Your treatment will begin with the application of a cooling gel to the area being treated. The laser is then gently moved across the skin, selectively heating the melanin in the hair follicle while protecting the surrounding skin.

Unlike many traditional laser hair removal systems that require multiple passes, our DiolazeXL technology typically only requires one pass, making treatments faster and more efficient.

Clients may feel a quick zap as the laser targets the hair follicle, but the sensation is very brief. Once the treatment is complete, the gel is removed and your session is finished.

Most treatments are quick, comfortable, and require little to no downtime, allowing you to return to your normal activities right away.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

You may be a suitable candidate if you meet the following criteria:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older (or must be accompanied by a parent or guardian)
  • Must not be pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Must not be taking photosensitive medications or herbs

Laser hair removal is not recommended for individuals who:

  • Have a history of keloid scarring
  • Are insulin-dependent diabetics
  • Have epilepsy
  • Have a pacemaker or internal defibrillator

Please note: Laser treatments cannot be performed directly over tattoos, but we can safely treat the surrounding area.

How Should I Prepare for My Laser Hair Removal Appointment?

To ensure the safest treatment and best possible results, please follow these preparation guidelines before your appointment:

  • Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment.
  • Other than shaving, do not exfoliate the skin for 24 hours before treatment.
  • Ensure the skin is clean and free of lotions, oils, perfumes/colognes, and deodorant prior to your appointment.
  • Do not pluck, wax, sugar, epilate, or use hair removal creams for at least 4 weeks before treatment, as the laser targets the hair follicle beneath the skin.
  • Avoid unnecessary sun exposure for at least 1 week before and after treatment.
  • Do not apply Retinol, Retinoic Acid creams, chemical exfoliants, peeling agents, or have diamond peels for 2 weeks before and after treatment.

For safety reasons, we cannot perform laser treatments on clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Please also inform us before your appointment if you are currently taking Accutane, any medications, or have any medical conditions, as this may affect your eligibility for treatment.

What Should I Do After My Laser Hair Removal Treatment? Post-Care Instructions

Following the proper aftercare helps protect your skin and ensures the best possible results.

  • Avoid prolonged sun exposure for 2–3 weeks after treatment. Daily sun protection is recommended, with a minimum SPF 30.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing to prevent irritation to the treated area.
  • Avoid sweat-inducing activities for 48 hours, including the gym, saunas, tanning beds, and sexual activity, to allow the skin time to recover.
  • Avoid hot showers and hot baths immediately after treatment, as heat can increase skin sensitivity.
  • Shaving or trimming between treatments is permitted, but only up to 24 hours before your next appointment. Please avoid all other hair removal methods such as waxing, plucking, sugaring, or hair removal creams.
  • One week after treatment, begin gently exfoliating the skin several times per week to help accelerate the natural shedding process and prepare the skin for your next session.
  • Avoid Retinol, Retinoic Acid creams, chemical peeling agents, and diamond peels for 2 weeks before and after treatment, as these products can increase skin sensitivity.

If you experience any unusual irritation or have questions about your aftercare, please contact our team and we will be happy to assist you.

Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?

Laser hair removal provides long-term hair reduction. Over a series of treatments, hair follicles become damaged and produce less hair over time.

Some hair may eventually grow back, but it is typically finer, lighter, and much less noticeable. Many clients choose to have occasional maintenance treatments once or twice per year to maintain smooth results.
