Scalp Micropigmentation

What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-surgical treatment that uses a small needle to deposit pigment into the scalp to form small points. These points resemble shaved hair follicles which helps to create the appearance of fuller hair.

Is this treatment only for men?

Not at all. This treatment is a great solution for anyone experiencing hair loss due to alopecia, male and female pattern baldness and thinning of hair.

Some of the benefits of scalp micropigmentation:

  • Recreate receding hair lines and side profiles

  • Creates thicker, dense looking hair

  • Can be used to camouflage alopecia, thinning hair, scars, hair transplant scars or burns

Does it hurt?

Most clients describe the pain as a mild discomfort at most, however, each individual can experience pain differently.

How long does it last?

SMP is considered a permanent solution unlike other cosmetic treatments such as MicroBlading which is only semi-permanent. Factors such as how often you moisturize your scalp and sun exposure will determine how quickly a touch up is needed.  The micropigmentation will fade and lighten (usually very-slowly) over time and will require a touch up anywhere from 3-5 years.

How long does the procedure take?

You can expect each treatment to typically last 3-5 hours.  For full scalp treatments this can be longer.

How long is the recovery?

There is no down time with this treatment. Individuals may return to work immediately.  â€‹Each following treatment should ideally be booked 7 days from the previous treatment. Not sooner. Please remember to be patient with your treatment.  Scalp pigmentation is completed over 3 sessions in order to produce the most natural results.  You can expect some swelling and redness immediately after the treatment which may last a few days. It is normal for the colour to look dark at the beginning - this will fade by 20-30% and may take up to 30 days. Please DO NOT remove or pick at any scabbing.  Removing them prematurely before they are ready to fall off will result in patchy areas.  â€‹

Am I a good candidate for Scalp Pigmentation?

If you are diabetic, have an auto-immune disorder or are on blood thinners, a doctors note will be needed to proceed with the treatment.  If you are taking Accutane are pregnant or nursing, we will not be able to proceed with the treatment.
